Motorcycle Unit

The Motorcycle Patrol Unit consists of Officers Mike Cantrell, Erin Held, Jerry Roudebush, Steve Brandman, Doug Smith, Jon Martin, Sergeant Shaun Mills and Lieutenant Alan Haller. The eight motorcycle officers attended a special 80 hour training course in police motorcycle operations and are assigned Harley-Davidson motorcycles. Because of their mobility, motorcycles are a valuable asset for traffic enforcement, traffic safety, and providing emergency response through congested traffic. In addition, motor-cycles are highly mobile, fuel efficient and reduce the budgetary costs associated with operating the patrol fleet.

The Motorcycle Unit provides motorcade escorts for the MSU homecoming parade, the 5K Dino Dash and several funeral processions. The unit has also participated in the Woodward Dream Cruise in Royal Oak, Michigan and the Lansing School District's Annual Safety Patrol Picnic.
