MSU Police Department Update on Sexual Assault Investigation

After an extensive criminal investigation by the Michigan State University Police Department, the Ingham County Prosecutor’s Office has charged Joshua J. King, Demetric D. Vance and Donnie L. Corley Jr. in relation to an incident that occurred Jan. 16 on campus.

King has been charged with one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, one count of third-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of capturing/distributing image of an unclothed person. Vance and Corley Jr. each has been charged with one count of third-degree criminal sexual conduct.

The prosecutor’s office authorized the charges June 5, and an Ingham County District Court judge signed arrest warrants June 6.

“The MSU Police Department has zero tolerance for sexual assault,” MSU Police Chief Jim Dunlap said. “I’m confident that this extensive investigation was completed thoroughly, and our detectives worked diligently and exhaustively in providing information to the prosecutor’s office.”

Throughout the investigation, MSU Police detectives conducted more than 1,500 hours of investigation, including more than 100 interviews and contacts.
