Access Control
Michigan State University departments requiring access control systems in their buildings must have service and equipment provided by the MSU Police Department.
Security Survey
If desired, an MSU Police Officer can provide a security survey for your office. This is typically in the form of feedback provided after a quick tour of your facility, floor, or room.
Preliminary Evaluation
If access control is requested, a preliminary evaluation is completed. This evaluation determines the type of equipment necessary for the goal desired. General hardware requirements, like the need for card readers, motion detectors, and cameras, as well as time schedules and authorized personnel lists are determined at this time.
Activation
After equipment installation and testing, access control is enabled. Monitoring and response is provided by the Police Department for a nominal fee.
Changes to authorized personnel lists are implemented after the completion of a Building Access Request Form. Complete the form and print it out. If the access is for a person who does not have a "Combo Card" send the form and the person to the Registrars Office, Room 50 Administration Building.
If the person already has a Combo Card, complete the form and fax it to Denni Kraft at 432-1404.
ID Cards
If the access control system in your building requires the use of a card reader, you will need an MSU ID Card provided by the Registrar's Office in Room 50 of the Administration Building.
