Update on MSU Healing Assistance Fund Investigation

On May 14, 2019, the Ingham County Prosecutor’s Office issued arrest warrants for seven defendants resulting in 22 felony counts for fraudulent claims of over $527,000 in relation to the MSU Healing Assistance Fund investigation.

The MSU Police Department received information about the alleged fraudulent reimbursements involving the MSU Healing Assistance Fund in fall 2018. Upon review of invoices, there were indications that appeared to be fraudulent in nature.  The amount for fraudulent payment is worth over $527,000. The unpaid claim amounts to over $52,000.

The MSU Healing Assistance Fund was created to support the resources needed for survivors’ recovery and healing, specifically counseling and mental health services that are not covered by insurance.
